Restrictions withdrawn from viewing 1080p HD Youtube videos in Wi-Fi

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic the telecom providers insisted Netflix, Hotstar, etc. to restrict their streaming  quality to keep the bandwidth load in control. Youtube followed in the same path and had restricted video streaming to standard definition (780p). However if you were using a laptop to stream the restrictions did not apply.

Approximately after 4 months Youtube have not decided to lift that restriction. But the same only applies if you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. Though it is good news however the question still remains whether this will be of any help to the mobile carrier bandwidth. In today’s date most customers have two phones with one primary and a secondary. The question is whether the restriction work if the user connects to WiFi Hotspot which may be a mobile network?
